Pingdingshan Business District

 Pingdingshan Business District

Pingdingshan Business District

Being the new centre of commerce, culture, housing, and employment of Pingdingshan, the masterplan of the CBD is designed as an urban dynamo interconnecting the old and new city fabrics, sports, cultural facilities, and national wetland greenbelt to create a vibrant gateway for the city. The existing infrastructure and urban fabric surrounding the site are tied together by interweaving ground-scrapers and raised landscape decks.  We carefully studied the potential of the urban location of the five high rise towers to perform as a gateway cluster to the site as well as to the central avenue of the new CBD. The cluster rises as curvilinear form that slowly lifts and accelerates into a dramatic, vertical, and revolutionary geometry. The five towers establish an urban dialogue like different mountain peaks achieving an ultimate height of 260 meters above ground. The dynamic skyline cluster serves a focal point to the city from both inland and waterfront that actively interacts with Pingdingshan’s other significant landmarks.
